Colorado had NO online lookup as recently as the last national directory, so ignore any guide telling you to phone. There are two tabs and you want both: Applicator searches Qualified Supervisors, Certified Operators and Private Applicators; Business searches Commercial Applicator licenses and Limited Commercial and Public registrations. TWO TRAPS. First, the filters are ADDITIVE — fill several fields and it returns only records matching ALL of them, so an over-specified search comes back empty and looks like a missing license. Start with one field. Second, the search returns only current valid licenses; EXPIRED ONES DO NOT APPEAR AT ALL, so a blank result may mean lapsed rather than never-licensed. Anyone who engages in the business of applying pesticides for hire needs the commercial license. Pair with the Colorado law page — the statute makes the tenant liable for preparation costs and for treating neighbouring units if you obstruct, so hiring a verifiably licensed operator and cooperating fully is doing double duty.

What to verify, in order
The business license, not just the technician
Most states license the company and certify the individual separately. A certified technician working for an unlicensed business is still an unlicensed job.
The category or phase covers structural work
Licenses are issued by category. An applicator certified for turf and ornamental has no business in your bedroom.
Status is active, not lapsed
Some state databases exclude cancelled licenses from results entirely, so a revoked company returns the same empty result as a typo. If you get nothing, phone the agency before assuming you mistyped.
Complaint and enforcement history
Where a state publishes disciplinary actions they are usually on the board site rather than inside the license search.
